Statistician

Hanover, Maryland, United States

Apply

The title “Statistician” is a little narrower in scope than the position requires, but it is the closest approximation. You will need to have some quantitative skills to include programming, but it is more important to have worked with a variety of data sets outside of an academic setting. If you have ever cursed date formats and time zones, then you know what we mean.

Somewhat surprisingly, it is more important that you have good communication skills than technical acumen; loosely speaking, we keep with Southwest Airlines’ policy of hiring for attitude and training for skill. In addition, your writing skills should be excellent.

So, what will you be doing?

This position is in support of a Department of Defense customer, and the work will be interesting. You will be analyzing a wide range of data sets and keeping senior management informed about what those data sets mean to the organization. The pace is fast, and you should expect that any recommendations you make might be implemented without hesitation (for better or worse). It is, to say the least, an exciting environment.

We now list a rough guide to what we are looking for formally:

  • An M.S. in a quantitative discipline, preferably mathematics, statistics, or physics. We will consider a B.S. for outstanding candidates.
  • A TS/SCI Security Clearance with full-scope poly.
  • Superb writing skills (important enough to mention twice).

Rather than write a long description of Cybix, let us just say that Cybix is a small, growing company with ample opportunity for an ambitious person to do very well. If you are interested, please send an email and your resume to careers@cybixsystems.com.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Best,
Matt Hutchinson
